This set of brooches is from my ongoing collection called Wearing Space, which reflects transitional spaces such as subway and bus stations, airports, door thresholds, etc., places designed to move between two locations. Each piece is an imprint of an architectural fragment. The works explore the remnants of our existence embedded in the environment, reflections of buildings within ourselves.
What does the memory of textures mean to us? The brooches are impressions of external surfaces such as walls, ceilings, and floors, later cast in glass. I am fascinated by the tension between the physical and spiritual worlds. I bring jewellery into the transit space, approaching it as a transitional object. I want to infuse these spaces with pleasure, celebrate them, and bring them back to the human body. The brooches function as soothing, comforting objects, reminders and souvenirs of the spaces and times we inhabit.
